Vegan soul food is a thing thanks to The Saucy Vegan in Dothan opening a new permanent location in the Circle City!
The Saucy Vegan
Things are rolling right along for The Saucy Vegan in Dothan now located at 2128 Montgomery Highway. What began with a dream and a food truck now has a brick-and-mortar location too!
But don’t worry. If you have become a fan of following the existing Saucy Vegan food truck, it may appear in a parking lot near you soon as well.
The Saucy Vegan in Dothan uses Alabama pecan wood to smoke their 100 percent Vegan barbecue. Everything is made fresh—dairy-free, egg-free and plant-based.
Customers can choose from a variety of specialty items, which may vary visit-to-visit.
For instance, sometimes there’s the Saucy Mack featuring a plant-based patty topped with pickles, vegan cheese, vegan bacon, fried onions, lettuce, tomato and their “Geaux” sauce on a vegan bun.
Maybe Soulfood Sunday will hit the spot. It’s a plant-based patty topped with vegan mac-and-cheese, vegan bacon, coleslaw, fried onions and pickles drizzled with barbecue sauce on a vegan bun.
Sides include crinkle fries, baked beans, coleslaw and mac-and-cheese, for example. Satisfy your sweet tooth with dairy-free, egg-free cookies, red velvet bread pudding or banana pudding.
The Saucy Vegan can be found across the street from Habitat for Humanity at 2128 Montgomery Highway. That’s less than three miles from Colony Square, which is about a seven-minute drive!
Fall hours for the restaurant are Thursday and Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m.
What do vegan barbecue and Colony Square have in common? We’re both animal-friendly! Of course, at Colony Square, by “animal,” we mean pets—as in cats and dogs only.
