Mark your calendars! Black Friday shopping this year in downtown Dothan just became super cool. For the first time ever, skate into holiday shopping with Ice and Lights in Dothan Friday, November 26, at Wadlington Park.
Dothan’s First Ice Rink
Ice and Lights in Dothan could be the start of a new family tradition this holiday season. The ice rink will open at 10 a.m. the day after Thanksgiving complete with festive lights and music.
What is usually a green space on Foster Street will soon be a frosted white. And you will have six weeks to enjoy it! The ice rink is expected to stay open until January 9.
Wondering what to do about ice skates? Stop worrying! They will be available to rent at the ice rink.
After going ‘round and ‘round on the rink, be sure to stop by your favorite downtown merchants and refuel at one of several local eateries.
Plan Your Day
If Ice and Lights in Dothan can only keep you entertained for so long, no worries! There are plenty of things to do and places to go in Dothan’s Downtown.
For instance, just down from Wadlington Park at 140 North Foster St. is Naomi & Olive, a specialty gift shop with vintage finds, Southern crafts and artisan goods. Also, next door is KBC, serving upscale Southern food—not fancy—just good!
Or if you find yourself chilled after ice skating, stop by Bird & Bean Coffee House for fresh coffee and baked goods at 144 North Foster St.
The cost for Ice and Lights in Dothan will be $10 per person, which includes skate rental. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays; 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays; 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays and 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Christmas Day. Can you believe it?! Technically, we haven’t even celebrated Halloween. Here we are planning Black Friday—the day after Thanksgiving! But it will be here before you know it. Just like the holidays and a new year.
